Features
Design
The gaming headsets Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 + SuperAmp is considered to be one of the finest in the market as it offers optimal performance, control and comfort as a whole. The only other color available is black which is opt for the PS4 but for the Xbox one (which was tested) it is white and they both look exceptionally great. Both come with plush ear cups, removable speaker plates along with a steel headband which is strong and has a good amount of notches allowing you to easily find the right size. Most head shapes and sizes seem to fit the band well enough as there is decent rotation and flex in this area. The earphones are extremely comfortable, without any problems to the ears even during long gaming sessions as they come with soft leather around the ears. If you are pretty insecure about wearing a headset after the outside world, then you can easily wear this headset without making it apparent as the earcups are very low profile. For people who wear spectacles like me don’t have to worry about the earphones as they are soft and can be easily worn for longer durations without any pain.
Standardized terminology:
The AMP SuperAMP’s legacy was forged in partnership with foremost e-sports teams to guarantee audio quality fit for the best players of today’s age. Just let the sound take over your sight and you’ll be straight in the game. Communicating with the squad or hearing sounds, particularly in loud arenas, is particularly important, but in esports, teamwork matters the most. With a lot at stake, an order can finish the game with a single command. With the Elite Pro 2’s noise-canceling microphone featuring TruSpeak™ Technology, your voice will always be available to the audience. Teammates’ shouts do not need to be deafening because they can hear themselves and control their volume. It’s easy to understand what’s going on in a fierce global multi-player matchup while still understanding what your teammates are saying. The performance of the 50mm Nanoclear™ speakers is impressive, and when that sounds to the TruSpeak™ chat, the other squad’s chances fade.
Usability insight:
In terms of feel, the Elite Pro 2 is exactly the gaming headset you would expect. The Aerofit™ Ear Cushions are absolutely unique and patented. It blocks noise from outside and gives protection to the users’ contact with the common noise. Most of the technologies that are relevant to gaming are implemented concurrently so as to provide extreme gaming experience. Players don’t have to worry because flexible and cooling memory-foam provides comfort while playing. Dual internal and external leather side walls enhance sound reproduction, reduce external noise and ensure deep bass sounds. In addition, it features a soft cool gelatin material in the parts of the headface to ensure a snug fit on the ears.
Wonderful sound
The sound of the Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 is as attractive as the previous generation models. They feature the same 50nm drivers which provide a strong sound from the mid range and detailed sound from the high range. Bass will not shake your skull, but low MHz does provide a decent thump that is audible and nice.
As is the case of most of the Turtle Beach equipment, Elite Pro 2, is designed for gaming and communication. It means that in a hectic multiplayer match some sense of what is happening on the screen plays well enough to perceive conversations with teammates.
To this model, I was testing the Elite Pro 2 version which is included with the SuperAmp, and provides a lot more power to the headset. It enables the headset to be louder while losing none of the sharpness.
Comfortable
The Elite Pro 2 is also the type of comfortable which I would expect from a quality gaming headset. Its cups have a soft gelatine material and it feels like wearing a pillow around your ears because that is how deep the grip is. It would be great if they also stayed in position and didn’t bounce around, which they do perfectly.
Turtle Beach has also designed the best headsets for gamers who are also wear spectacles. Each earcup has a special well at each ear which gives a nice surrounding touch around the temples so that they do not cut into one’s head. Simultaneously, such an indentation leaves a closed fit that prevents sound from escaping or entering the ear.
Bluetooth and easy-to-use app:
What I liked about these devices was that I could control almost everything related to their operation. It was barely possible to make any operation manually; you could turn the knobs or press the buttons, but most of the heavy lifting would be done through a dedicated application.
With the Turtle Beach app, gamers can manage their Bluetooth audio devices with great control and precision. The app provides users access to adjust sound settings while simultaneously having complete sound optimization for use with the Xbox console. Users can customize their headset with the app while playing games or watching movies.
Worth:
When gaming becomes your life, the best is what you need. This time the headphones will not be recommended for the occasional weekend gamer. Do not take that in the wrong way, however. I bet everyone would love to have these. The majority of the gamers don’t want to spend the extra bucks on them. I know. So does Turtle Beach. That is the reason they have a variety of different types of headphones. For example, let’s take the new Recon 70. It’s a sturdy option in the lowest price range. You can’t go wrong with those, but if you want to prepare for the pro leagues, you need something special.
Professionals use Gaming Mics with the TruSpeak feature.
Of course, we can also state that team communication in esports or any team shooter is key. In the case of the Elite Pro 2, Turtle Beach patented technology TruSpeak allows you to be always the one heard. There’s also variable mic monitoring and chat boost dynamics to help you achieve the most suitable setting for in-game chat.
The SuperAmp is a simple one-dial device that is powered by Bass removable and plug everywhere. This simple dial is a gaming audio controller that offers audio that even Windows Sonic for Headphones surround sound on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs can’t offer, regular 7.1 channels sound on any PCs, even on PS4.
Moreover, it connects via Bluetooth to the Turtle Beach Audio Hub mobile app on Android or iOS devices allowing gamers to mix Game and Chat Audio, use Variable Mic Monitoring, Dynamic Chat Boost, Superhuman Hearing, and other bass-equalizer presets. Apart from that, there are also available controls for the LED color and lighting mode of the SuperAmp, or other audio specific to streaming.
Conclusion
At the 250 dollars price tag, the Turtle Beach’s Elite Pro 2 has enough alternatives. I personally prefer the wireless Astro A50. The SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC also offers good comparison though I find the design of the SteelSeries quite unappealing in terms of comfort. However, if wireless is not an option for you and you do not want to go with the A50, the next best choice would be the Elite Pro 2. The audio seems to be great and the comfort level is excellent especially in long gaming sessions when it is imperative to keep the phone in touch. The Elite Pro 2 by Turtle Beach is sold at a market price of 250 dollars. This review was conducted under a sample unit of the devices provided by Turtle Beach to GamesBeat.
